I am at best a history buff, by no means an expert. If people want to learn reliable facts about the past, they should read histories and biographies, not historical fiction and certainly not my historical fiction.
Still, readers may wonder how much of what they read in the Riley Series is historical. That’s why I am providing this section of the website, to suggest to the interested reader when occurrences or people or settings in the novels can actually be found in history, and when they cannot. I will also provide short bibliographies of works that I read in preparing to write each novel, to which readers craving more reliable sources might turn.
As I say in the novels, I’ve been unable to find any mention of Riley or Cornelius in any of the many descriptions of the historical events in which they claim to have participated. I leave the significance of that fact to the reader.
